 Why Filtration?
This is a question we hear over and over again. It is pretty common knowledge thanks to the national media that our water systems are not clean and are in fact loaded with harmful chemicals. The sad part is so many people don't realize how those chemicals are harming their health. I never gave it much thought for many years but now after using our filters and other products I do. There are many great water filtration systems on the market. We feel ours is the best for one main reason, it is the only water filtration system on the market with the special highly charged Energized 10" wand that is attached to it.
What does this "wand" do? Well for those of you who aren't familiar with our products, this wand will change the water from right-turning (or negative) to left-turning (or positive), thus making the contaminants neutral and less harmful for your system. The only way to completely remove all the bad contaminants from our water is through reverse osmosis or distillation. The problem with these processes is that it is also removing the good elements such as minerals your body needs. If you drink this type of water without knowing what minerals to supplement with it, it will do you more harm than good by leaching the good minerals out of your body. This can be very dangerous. I always recommend if you insist on drinking this virtually "dead" water then consult your health care professional on what to do to put the good minerals back into your water or your body.
We find that the filtration systems we sell are very effective. They use a combination of two kinds of KDF media, Grandualted Activated Carbon (GAC), micron filtration, and SIR-900 media (for removal of fluoride, arsenic and asbestos). These medias are very effective in removing a huge list of contaminants from water depending on the water flow rate, results may vary.
When purchasing the Whole House Unit with the Energized Wand any contaminants that may get through this filter will be then neutralized by the highly energized wand, including Fluoride. This is a great reason to purchase the Whole House Filter with the Energized Wand.

Golden Illumination's Whole House Unit Water Filtration System Contains Synthetic Aluminum Oxide absorbant media. Specifically designed to have a high affinity for Fluoride, Lead and Arsenic. It removes metals through a mixture of adsorption and chemical reaction with the media, therefore, the elimination is not reliant on ion exchange. It has uniform particle size, is physically stable and can be used over a wide pH range.

The MCL established for drinking water by the US EPA is 4 mg/l.
You should also remember to filter not only the water that you drink, but also the water you use to wash vegetables, make ice cubes, and cook with. In addition to your kitchen, you might want to consider adding filters in your shower and your tub as well, since you will also absorb contaminations through your skin when you shower or bathe.
In stage 1, water flows through a 20" sediment filter cartridge that removes sediment, silt, sand and dirt. Also extends the life of the water filters.
In stages 2, water flows through one - micron filter pads (1 micron equals 1/25,000th of an inch), which remove suspended particles such as silt, sediment, cyst (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), sand, rust, dirt, and other un-dissolved matter.*
In stage 3, water flows through granulated activated carbon (GAC). GAC is universally recognized and widely used as an effective adsorbent for a wide variety of organic contaminants, such as chlorine (99.9%), chemicals linked to cancer (THM's, benzine) pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), PCB's, MTBE's and hundreds of other chemical contaminants that may be present in water that create bad taste and odors.*
Carbon is extremely porous and provides a large surface area for contaminants to collect. Carbon-only filters must also use their capacity for chlorine removal, resulting in a shortened life. They also may use a bituminous coal carbon, which is good at removing chlorine, but not as effective at removing chemicals. We use a high-grade coconut shell carbon that is most effective at removing chemicals. Coconut shell carbon provides a significantly higher volume of micro-pores than either coal, wood or lignite based carbon. As a result, it is more effective than other carbon types in removing trihalomethanes (THM's) and other chemicals from municipally supplied water. Since our REDOX media removes the chlorine before it reaches the carbon, the carbon capacity is not wasted on chlorine and is free to concentrate more effectively on organic contaminants.
In stage 4, water flows through the ion exchange resin, reducing heavy metals such as lead, copper, aluminum, and water hardness.
In stages 5 and 6, water flows through a bed of media made of a special high-purity alloy blend of two dissimilar metals - copper and zinc (Eagle Redox Alloy® 6500, and Eagle Redox Alloy® 9500.) Eagle Redox Alloy® is a major advancement in water treatment technology that works on the electro-chemical and spontaneous-oxidation-reduction (REDOX) principles. Chlorine is instantaneously and almost inexhaustibly oxidized.
Tests on Eagle Redox Alloy®/GAC cartridge have shown 99+% chlorine removal past 20,000 gallons of water. In comparison, carbon cartridges of comparable volumes drop below 90% effectiveness after only 4,000 gallons.
Iron and hydrogen sulfide are oxidized into insoluble matter and attach to the surface of the media. Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, copper, nickel, chromium, cadmium, aluminum, and other dissolved metals are removed from the water by the electrochemical process. They are attracted to the surface of the media, much like a magnet. The media inhibits bacterial growth throughout the entire unit. In fact, it has been shown to be reduced up to 90%, eliminating the need for silver, which is commonly used in carbon-only filters (silver is considered a pesticide by the EPA and, as such, must be registered with them). Is copper or zinc added to the water in any significant amount? On 2.3 ppm chlorinated water, <0.05 mg/l copper and only 0.46 mg/l zinc were measured. The EPA aesthetic levels are 1.0 mg/l for copper and 5.0 mg/l for zinc. Both zinc and copper are essential minerals for good health - the FDA recommends a daily intake of 15 mg of zinc and 2 mg of copper.
In stage 7, water flows through another one-micron filtration pad for further reduction of undesirable particles. The end result is a great reduction or the total elimination of a wide variety of contaminants.
In Stage 8, water flows through a 20" solid carbon cartridge for removing volatile organic carbon compounds (VOC's, insecticides, pesticides and industrial solvents).

Please purchase a plumbing insulator blanket or a fiber glass cloth. When installing, your Whole House Unit, make sure the unit is installed at the location your water source enters your home. This will insure complete filtration of all the water appliances and water sources throughout your home.
Placement of 10" Wand:
10" Wand attachment can be zip-tied to the main water line pipe where water comes into house. Have the plumber place the 10" Wand after the unit because the water needs to be filtered first, and then energized. If you decide to place the wand on the incoming water cartridge place the 10" Wand on the 3 cartridge on the rightside-which is the sediment cartridge. The 10" Wand attachment comes with 2 nylon tie wraps that can be zip-tied. This wand can be taken off and replaced if moving or when needing to replace cartridge.
Easy installation: Have a plumber cut into actual pipe off of the main incoming water line of house.

Fluoride (F-) is a common constituent of many minerals. Municipal water treatment plants commonly add fluoride to the water for prevention of tooth decay, and they try to maintain a level of 1.5 - 2.5 mg/l. Concentrations above 5 mg/l are detrimental to tooth structure. High concentrations are contained in waste water from the manufacture of glass and steel, as well as from foundry operations. Organic fluorine is present in vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Inorganic fluorine, under the name of sodium fluoride, is a waste product of aluminum and is used in some rat poisons.
Fluoride Removal
Fluoride is removed by a chemical reaction with the media. The process is flow and pH sensitive. The best results are obtained when the flow is limited to about 1 GPM/cu.ft. and the pH is held at 5.5. Higher flows and higher or lower pH causes a significant loss of capacity. The best capacity obtainable is approximately 0.2 lbs.per cu. ft. Leakage of fluoride is generally less than 0.1 mg/L to break through. Removes more than 500 contaminants from water.*

We have been pleased with the triple whole house filter. We did not lose that much water pressure as one would suspect with a whole house filter. We also test now and then to check on flouide levels etc. So far, so good. We have had the house filter nearly a year now and continue to remain satisified.  This is a recent picture 2009... of a Chrysantimum that I grew from seed in 2008. This is it's second year. I experimented and transplanted it to this large barrel when it was quite small. I decided to just feed it with Energized Water and not give it any plant food. This is the gorgeous plant after having fed it for 6 months with Energized Water from the Energized Pitcher!
