Systemic enzymes are formulated to resist the acidic environment of the stomach so that they can be absorbed into the bloodstream from the small intestine. Yes. Animal products are not used in the manufacture of Vitalzym. The enzymes are derived from plants and lab grown bacteria. Other enzymes on the market use trypsin and chymotrypsin in their formulations, which are porcine and bovine derived.

Can I take Vitalzym if I am pregnant or lactating?
There have not been any studies regarding supplementation of these enzymes while pregnant or lactating. We recommend speaking with your healthcare professional before taking Vitalzym while pregnant or lactating.

No dosage has been set for children. We recommend speaking with your pediatrican about the benefits of Vitalzym and a proper dosage.

Can pets take Vitalzym?
Many veterinarians use Vitalzym to improve the health of their patients. Dosages vary significantly. We recommend speaking with your veterinarian about a proper dosage.
We at Golden Illumination give our dog who is 22 lbs one capsule at bedtime. I would suggest a dog that is 40 lbs or over... 2 gel caps 1-2x a day.
I dip one end of the gel cap in a small amount of clarified butter (Ghee), if you do not have Ghee you can use a small amount of butter. I then hold the other end of the capsule and our dog takes it into his mouth and swallows it so easily.

Where should I store my Vitalzym?
Vitalzym does not need to be refrigerated. Store your Vitalzym in a cool, dry place, with the lid of the bottle tightly closed. Exposure to heat over 150% for an extended period of time can destroy the enzymes.

Is there any Detoxification when initially taking Vitalzym?
Systemic enzymes may help rid the body of toxins. Some users will experience a detoxification reaction to the enzymes, including short term fatigue, nausea, fogginess, headache, or a cold. 
Though uncomfortable, this detoxification is beneficial to the body. Increased water intake can assist in the process, or reducing enzyme dosage will slow the rate of detoxification. If symptoms persist, contact your healthcare professional. We have heard from many of our customers and this does happen often. Drink Water!

For pain or inflammation: Start with 3 capsules and if you still experience pain increase the dosage by 3 until you reach a level of comfort.
